Lindenwood Launches World-Class Collegiate Chess Program

University Offering Chess Scholarships, Forming Team for Competition


 

SAINT LOUIS, January 31, 2012--Lindenwood University is putting out a call for some of the finest young chess players in America and abroad. And the university is willing to provide scholarship money to build the nation’s top collegiate chess program.

Our Scholastic Chess Program has been growing by leaps and bounds over the past year, and now we're asking you to be a part of its continued success! We're introducing our first-ever Adopt-A-Student, Adopt-A-School campaign.

The eagles have landed … on the chess board! Forty-six students at Clark Elementary School in Webster Groves have joined the CCSCSL’s scholastic program. The group was split into three classes, by grade level, and three instructors give lessons simultaneously at the facility on Tuesdays. It is one of the biggest individual programs in the CCSCSL scholastic chess program.

Fall Scholastic Programming Shatters Records

Students from McGrath Elementary took advantage of a great field trip opportunity at the chess club. McGrath is currently implementing afterschool chess programming as well.

2012 Summer Camps with Grandmaster Instructors

Since 2008, the Chess Club and Scholastic Center of Saint Louis (CCSCSL) has provided a backdrop for some of the greatest chess players in this country to compete with one another for titles, prize money, and glory. Now we invite your students to join us to advance their skill level in the game of chess!

The CCSCSL seeks to provide new and improving students with an opportunity to explore the game of chess with a Grandmaster. Chess offers a variety of benefits to developing youth, including problem solving, situational awareness, and planning ahead.

Field Trips at the Chess Club

It’s a March week of fieldtrips at the Saint Louis Chess Club and Scholastic Center!

Twenty-five students from McGrath Elementary visited the club on Thursday the 11th and a whopping sixty-three students on Saturday the 12th from Immaculate Conception of Dardenne.
