Club Championship: Week 2 results
The Club Championship is really heating up as local Expert Jim Voelker moves into clear first with a score of 2-0. His win tonight against Paul Mechem helped propel him into the lead.
With three rounds to go Richard Benjamin, Josh Frank and Ken Thomas are right on his heels with scores of 1.5 each. Next week, Voelker will take on Thomas in a pivotal round three match-up. Frank and Benjamin will square off on board two. Stay tuned to the CCSCSL for updates throughout the week.
Young William Nesham was able to hold off Mike Kummer to secure a victory in round two. Paul Goddard managed to edge CCSCSL Executive Director Tony Rich in a tight end game. In a battle of experts, both Frank and Thomas were able to hold their own to grind out a draw.
Earlier in the week, Benjamin defeated Dan Coryea in a match that was rescheduled because of other commitments.
The field will attempt to chase down Voelker as he makes a push for the Club Championship!
