At the Chess Club and Scholastic Center of Saint Louis we strive to provide students, teachers, parents, and school administrators with the resources they need to develop or improve their scholastic chess endeavors. Here you will find information about our in-school chess curriculum, as well as opportunities for after-school chess programs. It is our goal to promote the expansion of scholastic chess through our programs and offerings in order to academically challenge youth in a fun and engaging manner, enabling them to do better in the classroom and participate more fully in afterschool and community events. Two Unrated Beginner Tourneys, One Exciting Weekend!


A total of 55 kids took over the Chess Club and Scholastic Center's tournament hall on Sunday, April 29, following Grandmaster Ben Finegold's kid's class; 38 kids participated in the K-3 section, and 17 tried their luck in the 4th Grade and over section.

Schoolhouse Rook: A Successful Spring

Annette Harris Officer Elementary School in East Saint Louis will be launching a chess program for almost 200 students through the Chess Club.

The Chess Club and Scholastic Center of Saint Louis is taking chess to Illinois in a big way. One of the last Spring programs this year has begun at Annette Harris Officer Elementary School, in the East Saint Louis School District.

Parkway District Chess Championship

Parents and students from the Parkway School District enjoy the sunshine between rounds out in front of the Chess Club.


Isaiah Gadson Wins State Championship

Isaiah Gadson scored a big upset victory over NM Kevin Cao in the final round of the Missouri State Championship to claim the crown!


Lindenwood Launches World-Class Collegiate Chess Program

University Offering Chess Scholarships, Forming Team for Competition


 

SAINT LOUIS, January 31, 2012--Lindenwood University is putting out a call for some of the finest young chess players in America and abroad. And the university is willing to provide scholarship money to build the nation’s top collegiate chess program.

Adopt-A-Student, Adopt-A-School Drive


 

Our Scholastic Chess Program has been growing by leaps and bounds over the past year, and now we're asking you to be a part of its continued success! We're introducing our first-ever Adopt-A-Student, Adopt-A-School campaign.

Clark Elementary Eagles Play Chess

The eagles have landed … on the chess board! Forty-six students at Clark Elementary School in Webster Groves have joined the CCSCSL’s scholastic program. The group was split into three classes, by grade level, and three instructors give lessons simultaneously at the facility on Tuesdays. It is one of the biggest individual programs in the CCSCSL scholastic chess program.

Fall Scholastic Programming Shatters Records

Students from McGrath Elementary took advantage of a great field trip opportunity at the chess club. McGrath is currently implementing afterschool chess programming as well.
