Checkmate! (A chess college course)

CHECKMATE! is designed for students who want to increase their skill level to be able to compete in tournaments. Classes meet Saturday afternoons from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM. The dates are September 6, 13, 27, October 4, 11, 18, November 1, 8, and 15 or 22.

Instruction includes basic opening theory, reviews of master games, middlegame tactics, basic endgame theory, and checkmate using Griffin Chess, Volume 1 as the textbook.

Cost: $75, which includes the textbook.

Instructor Ed Baur has been a teacher for over 30 years and has coached Vianney High School's chess team to a number of National Championships. This course is an intensive, college-like course designed to develop the patterns of thinking and experience necessary to bring your game to the next level. It is designed for chess players of all skill levels up to 1600 USCF rating.
